People of Crikvenica

I'd like to show you the photographs from a project I was working on in 2007. I was trying to convey the charm, the beauty and the "humanity" of the coastal town of Crikvenica through the portraits of some of its most interesting inhabitans. Crikvenica is a small town near Rijeka, and together with Dramalj, Selce and Jadranovo makes up the famous and attractive Crikvenica Rivieria. All those who love active holidays and all those who want a relaxed and quiet holiday are welcome here. Surrounded by the most beautiful islands in Kvarner, Crikvenica is an ideal destination for your summer holiday.

Beautiful 15th Century stone house in Croatia

On an island off the Dalmatian coast of Croatia, architect Steven Harris and interior designer Lucien Rees Roberts, both from New York, restored a 15th-century stone house as a vacation getaway for themselves. The residence, part of a compound, overlooks the harbor. The designers used handmade Tuscan terra-cotta roof and floor tiles and preserved and enhanced the stone walls. All the construction materials and furniture came in from the mainland ferry, everything had to be hand-carried 156 steps up the hill to the site. The designers created large open spaces within the 1,500 square-foot shell. They wanted to take advantage of the unimpeded views by situating the living room on the second floor and relocating the kitchen and dining areas on the downstairs level, with French doors that spill out upon the lush gardens. Throughout, they stripped wood paneling back to the stone walls and preserved the existing ceiling timbers. More contemporary furniture decorates the home, contrasting with the old world structure. via

Couple of photos I've made last year in Istria

Rovinj... On the beautiful west coast of Istria, just underneath the Lim canal is the most romantic place in the Mediterranean! The town of Rovinj is the right destination for all of you who long for a sentimental atmosphere of the times long lost. Due to the lack of space, houses are closely built, streets are narrow and squares are small, still untouched by modern urbanism.

Poreč... In this former Roman colony you can enjoy the sights of Romanesque architecture with beautiful Venetian gothic palaces that will make your walk a truly memorable experience.

Motovun... In the northern part of Istria, overlooking the Mirna River valley, lies surely the most famous and attractive Istrian medieval town of Motovun. It is surrounded by vineyards from which the finest Istrian wines, white wine Malvasia and red wine Teran, are produced. The entire area is dotted with excellent local ‘konobe’ and restaurants.
